This south Georgia house museum is a one-of-a-kind building. Built between
1884-85 as a winter cottage for C. W. Lapham, a survivor of the 1871 Great
Chicago Fire, the house was well equipped with its own gas lighting system, hot
and cold water, indoor plumbing and modern closets. There are no right
angles in the cottage, and nothing is centered or symmetrical. The 19 rooms have
45 doors and 53 windows. Due to its outstanding architectural
significance, the Lapham-Patterson House was named a National Historic Landmark
in 1975.
Admission: $2.50 -

in downtown Thomasville, GA.
