Explore Bay's Bridge at Dukes Creek Conservation Area in Helen Georgia
This is Bay's Bridge. Just in front of this covered bridge is a memorial on a rock. It says 'In loving memory of 'Bay' Elizabeth Smithgall Watts 1941-1994. Professor of Anthropology Tulane University.' This pretty covered bridge sits over Dukes Creek in the north Georgia mountains area.
This is the path that leads to Bay's Bridge at Smithgall Woods - Dukes Creek Conservation Area. It is mainly flat like this so it's mostly an easy walk. It is accessible to everyone. You can ride your bike on this path. The memorial on the above right is just in front of this lovely covered bridge.
While you are walking on the path, you will pass a couple picnic shelters. Enjoy a nice picnic here in the shade. Duke's Creek weaves in and out along this scenic path. Check out the honey bee homes here. May be a good idea to bring bug spray. See close up below.
Smithgall Woods - Duke's Creek Conservation Area has lots of greenspace. It was a joy watching people relaxing in these areas while basking in the sun. Relax and take time to smell the flowers. There are lots of pretty yellow, orange, blue, lilac, white and yellow flowers along the walking path.
See Bay's Bridge at different angles. The first picture shows what it looks like as you approach it. Admire the lattuce trussels. The third and fourth pictures show what it looks like from both sides as you look out from the inside. It is situated above Duke's Creek. As you look through this covered bridge, you can see the walking path that goes far past the bridge. As you walk to the other side, you see a stunning view of Duke's Creek. The last picture shows a full view of Bay's Bridge. Hope you enjoyed the tour.
