Visit Cloudland Canyon State Park for National Trails Day® - On Saturday June 1, 2013
Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park will be joining the American Hiking Society in celebrating National Trails Day® (NTD) by sponsoring a work and play event on 6/1/2013.
This park is located in scenic northwest Georgia.
The day will begin with a four hour work session on one of the newest additions, the Cloudland Connector Trail. This trail is being constructed in cooperation with the Lula Lake Land Trust and will be joining our regions trail system into part of the “Great Eastern Trail”. The Great Eastern Trail is an 1800 mile trail that will span from Alabama to New York as a complement to the “Appalachian Trail”.
Please arrive at the park by 8:30 AM and meet at the park office. Participants do not have to pay the parking fee and new participants will receive a t-shirt. Tools and training will be provided but you can bring your gloves and loppers or trimmers.
After work, Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park will provide a free lunch to show our appreciation. After lunch, participants can choose their favorite fun events including hiking, biking and disc golf; each hosted by an experienced Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park volunteer.
Everyone is invited to participate and can expect a memorable day of “giving back” to our community and enjoying your favorite (or new) activity. Both will provide a sense of satisfaction that your day was well spent!
In order to ensure we have enough lunch and volunteer leaders, please RSVP by going to the CloudlandCanyon.org website and signing up for the National Trail Day event.
