General Information |
The Colquitt County Arts Center is a creative cultural resource that makes quality visual and performing art available to a diverse population. The arts center provides engaging arts education for children and adults, acts as a steward of permanent collections, and maintains a landmark facility that enriches the whole community.
The explosion of the computer and its importance in both our personal and professional lives has created a huge demand for artists. Designers of web pages, graphic designers and animators have made the computer what it is today. The early days of the computer being used only to type and store information is long gone. The computer screen is filled with colors, patterns, images and motion. These artistic elements combine to make the vast universe of information on the web entertaining and engaging. An endless selection of interactive games and millions of websites are dependent on the artist to make them appealing and visually interesting. Without the creativity of an artist, the computer would just be a big calculator.
The Colquitt County Arts Center provides opportunities for music performance and instruction. Regionally, nationally and internationally known musicians are periodically hosted by the Arts Center for public concerts. Aspiring musicians can try their hands at voice lessons and a wide range of instruments, including (but not limited to) acoustic, bass and electric guitar, piano, drum set, violin and cello. |

Buehre, watercolor by Jane Simpson, mosaics by Karin Sasine, inkwashes by Andrew Underdown, nature pieces by Randy Gibbs, quilts by Connie Fritz and much, much more.
At the Colquitt County Arts Center, theatre is more than a creative discipline; it is a place where community is developed, lives are shared and new members are constantly added to the family. And like most families, this one is full of drama!
ACT, a group of local theatre lovers that have come together to expand and continue the long time tradition of local stage performances at the Colquitt County Arts Center, would like to continue to grow its “theatre family." The theatre group takes its lead from playwright Bertolt Brecht’s statement, “From the start it has been theater’s business to entertain people … it needs no other passport than fun.” Members said they welcome and encourage anyone who has a love of theatre and fun to join the organization.
