| The Decatur Farmers Market is an open-air gathering space that supports organic, local, and sustainable foods in Decatur Georgia. Since 2013 it has been run by Community Farmers Markets (CFM), a nonprofit that also operates several other metro Atlanta markets. This market provides the Decatur community with the opportunity to buy from and speak directly with the local farmers and food producers who offer goods produced by sustainable methods. Buying locally and organically produced food supports a new model for food systems that enriches cultural standards, protects ecological integrity, supports regional economies and decreases our dependence on nonrenewable resources. The market also participates in Georgia Fresh For Less, which matches SNAP/EBT dollars for fresh, local produce. See the current vendor list at cfmatl.org/decatur. | ||
Vendors rotate by season, but regulars have included local produce growers, pasture-raised meat and egg farms, bakeries, cheesemakers, and prepared-food producers such as salsas, jams and baked goods.
