From local farmers who would bring their wheat and corn to the miller to be turned into flour and meal, to the Alcova Baptist Church where they used the mill pond for Enjoy the wonderful Playground and 0.5-mile paved multi-purpose trail. Also has Restrooms for your convenience.
The park's primary feature and namesake, Freeman's Mill, is a turn of the century gristmill which ground corn for earlier residents in the area. A man made dam directed water to power the grist mill and today functions as a waterfall with trails running to the site.
The park is in an area of rolling hills that accent the parks appearance. While the mill is no longer functional, it is an excellent tool to teach children of the importance of mills in earlier history. You can almost imagine a line of local farmer waiting to have their wagons of locally produced corn ground for use on the farm.

The park also includes walking paved walking trails that are pet friendly. During our visit, a number of local residents walked their best friend in the warm sunshine. There is a children's play area with features that fit the theme of this park, the grist mill. Swings and other play areas provide ample exercise to growing kids while parents sit in shady areas to enjoy the activities.
Restroom facilities are clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking for visitors are provided. The natural surroundings of this area come alive in the fall when trees turn to their fall colors. The trails are comfortable and provide enough variation to get a workout. Even the woodland trails along the creek provide a shady area to enjoy nature and get out of the hot sun. This is a very enjoyable Gwinnett County Park.
