Today the School has more than 1000 art majors. Since 2008 most of its studios, lecture halls, galleries and a media center have been consolidated into a single 172,000 square foot facility on UGA's East Campus, next to the Georgia Museum of Art, the School of Music, and the Performing Arts Center. The building also features a "green roof" planted with several varieties of vegetation to help conserve energy and water. The school also maintains The Athenaeum, a downtown Athens gallery space at 287 W. Broad St., open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 6pm.
