Birds of Prey Show
Held regularly, weather permitting

Callaway Resort & Gardens' Birds of Prey program, running since 2000 with the permission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Georgia DNR, is a must-see flighted raptor program in the Discovery Amphitheater.

In inclement weather, the birds may be available for viewing inside the Callaway Discovery Center instead, without a formal show. With the exception of service animals, pets are not permitted in the Discovery Amphitheater area.

Birds of Prey Shows are free with Admission.

NFCA NAIA Leadoff Classic (Softball)

Held annually, late February into early March

The NFCA NAIA Leadoff Classic is hosted at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus - NAIA teams from around the country travel in to play, including past NAIA Softball World Series participants.

CSU Theatre & Dance Productions
Year-round season

Columbus State University's Department of Theatre and Dance stages more than 75 public performances a year across the Riverside Theatre Complex's three venues (the Proscenium Theatre, Studio Theatre and Lab Theatre) - a mainstage season of plays, a musical, and children's productions, past titles have included Kirsten Greenidge's Milk Like Sugar.

Ticket prices vary by show. The box office is open the week of performances and one hour before each showtime; call 706-507-8444.

Organ Concert

Held Saturdays and Sundays, 1-3 pm

Marvel as the majestic sounds of the custom-built Möller pipe organ ring out from the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, overlooking Falls Creek Lake. Drop in for a moment of serenity or enjoy the full concert inside or around the chapel. Complimentary with Gardens Admission.

Beginner/Intermediate Adult Tennis Clinic

Held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-10 am

This one-hour tennis clinic runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at the resort's tennis facility. Private lessons are also available.

Adults - $20 per person per clinic

Members - $15 per member per clinic

Flora & Fauna Hike

Held the 2nd Sunday of the month, 9:30-11 am

Callaway's Education Staff guides visitors along a scenic trail to discover and discuss the flora and fauna of the Piedmont region. Close-toed shoes are recommended. Meet at the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center; transportation provided. Included in Gardens Admission.

American Frontier Days
Held annually, typically a spring weekend

F.D. Roosevelt State Park's American Frontier Days lets visitors meet a trapper, talk to a soldier, throw a tomahawk, and see living-history displays like cooking and blacksmithing from local historians, walking through time from the mid-1700s to the late 1800s. Held on the baseball field across from the Liberty Bell Pool.

Columbus Ballet at RiverCenter
Performances throughout the season

The Columbus Ballet performs regularly at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, with family-friendly educational programs and a full mainstage season (a Nutcracker production each December, plus other productions through the year), often paired with pre-show activities for children.

Coca-Cola Space Science Center Trip
Offered periodically

Callaway Gardens has offered guided trips to the Coca-Cola Space Science Center in nearby Columbus, where visitors can walk through the space gallery, see NASA artifacts, explore interactive exhibits, and view a planetarium show. Limited transportation has been provided by Callaway Gardens; a separate admission fee applies at the Science Center.

Reptiles on the Road

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center in Columbus has partnered with Hills & Dales Estate on live reptile programs, teaching visitors about native snakes, turtles, tortoises, amphibians, and the habitats that signal their presence. Around $10 per adult, $5 per child.

Callaway Gardens Annual Plant Fair and Sale
Held annually in March

Head to Callaway Gardens with a plant list and a vehicle large enough to take home all of the great finds from the Annual Plant Fair and Sale. This shopping event features a wide variety of plants and unique garden items from more than a dozen local and regional vendors near Robin Lake Beach. One of the Gardens' largest fundraising events, it helps support the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation and its educational and environmental programming. Choose from garden decor, gardening books and tools, and an array of flowering plants and shrubs, including native plants that thrive in the Southeast.

Two-Day Fly Fishing School
Offered seasonally

Learn the art of fly fishing from professional casting instructors at Callaway Outdoors. Weekend fly-fishing schools are limited to a small group to ensure an effective instructor-student ratio, and include classroom instruction, casting practice and lake fishing.

Children 12 and older are welcome to enroll in the school (with adult supervision). Boy Scouts of America are invited to enroll and upon completion will fulfill the requirements for the fly fishing badge.
