Cochran Mill Park
Cochran Mill Park Horseback Riding areaCochran Mill Park is located at Upper Wooten Road and Cochran Mill Road off of South Fulton Parkway. It has scenic Hiking, Biking and Horseback Riding Trails.

Cochran Mill Park offers nearly 800 acres of primarily natural landscape with equestrian, nature trails, and wildlife habitat. The land dates back to the 1800s when Cheadle Cochran settled on the land between the towns of Palmetto and Campbellton in South Fulton County, Georgia. Cochran farmed the land and ran a gristmill. Bear Creek Runs right through it.

The East Side features several shorter loops ideal for day hikes to Cochran Mill Falls and the two dams. The orange trail offers a temporary access trail along Little Bear Creek (0.7 mile loop), or a more direct approach at the creek ford (0.8 mi.loop).

The West Side features a parking loop with a picnic pavilion, playground, restrooms, and kiosk; an open field ideal for events, a 1‐mile yellow loop, and a red trail that crosses a ford then continues on a long winding loop to Henry Mill Falls. See Cochran Mill Park map in .pdf format.
Hutcheson Ferry Park is nearby. It offers 103 acres of rolling hills, pastureland, and stunning rock outcroppings. The land was saved from development in 2003 through the Conservation Fund and is today, a favorite place for community gatherings.

Next Volunteer Workday: May 25, 2013 at 9am-1pm
We're starting our trail maintenance on the east side of Cochran Mill Park. We will begin by removing as many of the fallen trees blocking the trails as possible and cutting back encroaching vegetation. Depending on how many people we have, we may divide into separate groups.

Trail maintenance can be strenuous work, but is also a rewarding volunteer activity. Volunteers need to be able to walk several miles to work on the trails. If you can help, please send Sam email so he’ll know how many to expect.

Meet in the Cochran Mill Park parking lot at the new kiosk at 9am. Bring work gloves, insect repellent, and garden tools such as rakes, loppers, small clippers, weed whackers. Also bring water and lunch or snacks; we’ll provide drinks and snacks when we’re done. Contact: Sam Smith at samfsmith@gmail.com
