Chief Vann House 50th Anniversary Celebration - 7/27/2008
The Chief Vann House opened as a state historic site on July 27, 1958. Enjoy our 50th Anniversary Celebration with state officials, members of the Cherokee Nation, and everyone who loves this historic Cherokee home. Admission is free and visitors are welcome to tour the house, museum and grounds.

Star light, star bright; come see the stars tonight. Meet at the tennis courts near the Visitors Center for a night of star stories and myths. We'll have binoculars and a telescope, but you may want to bring a blanket to lay back and enjoy the night sky. $3 parking.

Introduction to Disc Golf - 8/2/2008 5 pm - 7 pm
Meet at the Disc Golf Course for a lesson on how to play the game, throw the disc properly, and (hopefully) come in under par. Guests will need to bring their own disc or puchase one for $8 at the park office. All ages are welcome. $1 per round played, plus $3 parking.

Mud and Go Seek - 8/16/2008 6:30 pm - 9 pm
Guests will learn the art of natural camouflage techniques (smearing their entire bodies with mud) and applying what they have learned in a game of "hide and go seek." Make sure to bring dark clothes that can be ruined. This is an excellent program for kids 12 and younger, but an adult must accompany them. $3 parking. The Battle of Allatoona Pass - 10/4/2008 at 10 am - 5 pm
Tour the hillside and the railroad cut through the pass. Walk that trails, visit the star fort earthworks, and follow the old Tennessee Road just as the soldiers did in 1864. Explore daily life in the tent city, see rifle and cannon firing demonstrations.

Christmas by Candlelight - 2/13/2008
In 1805, Cherokee Chief James Vann opened his new brick mansion to the Moravian missionaries to hold one of the first Christmas celebrations in the Cherokee Nation. To honor this tradition, visitors are invited to enjoy the sights and sounds of a 19th century Christmas in one of America’s best-preserved Cherokee homes. $2.50–$4.
