Bay Creek Park is also home to Gwinnett County's first handicapped-accessible ball field and playground for children with special needs. The playground features a special rubberized surface and includes wheelchair-friendly sandboxes, slides and swings. The handicapped-accessible ball field, complete with wheelchair and walker accessible dugouts, is constructed with this surface.
Specialized Programs are open to everyone but are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities. Programs include sporting activities, adaptive aquatics, arts and crafts, and much more!

The 8,130 square-foot Dacula Activity Building is around the corner from Dacula Park. It features a large community room and a smaller classroom designed for a wide range of activities, including recreation classes, club meetings and rentals. The activity building grounds feature four tennis courts and a 0.6-mile 12-foot, paved multipurpose trail that connects with and adds to the trail at Dacula Park.

Freeman's Mill Park - Things To Do: This beautiful 12-acre park along the banks of the Alcovy River includes a unique playground that replicates a gristmill, half-mile paved multi-purpose trail, parking and restroom facilities as well as the historic Freeman’s grist mill. From local farmers who would bring their wheat and corn to the miller to be turned into flour and meal, to the Alcova Baptist Church where they used the mill pond for baptisms. Things To Do: 304 Acres - Large areas of wetlands, but is primarily known for its many recreation and athletic facilities. The park houses a Community Recreation, pond, playground, outdoor basketball courts, 5 soccer fields, a football - multi-purpose field, 7 youth baseball-softball fields, 2 adult softball fields, Pavilions, a 2.6 mile paved multi-purpose trail, 1.2-mile soft surface trail, grill and restrooms. Note: Portions of natural surface trails at George Pierce Park are temporarily closed for renovation. Things To Do: 233 Acres - 59,000-square-foot environmental education facility built with U.S. Green Building Council Design strategies,. It is a combination of indoor and outdoor classroom spaces, cultural and natural history exhibits, environmentally friendly exterior landscapes, a collection of permanent and rotating exhibits, as well as interactive and hands-on exhibits for children and adults. Park also has nature trails, greenway, outdoor classrooms and a Pavilion.

Things To Do: 2 acres in size. Built in 1885 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse sits on the square in downtown Lawrenceville. Building is open for tours, free art exhibit, private rentals for social, weddings and business functions, and special events such as the annual Lighting of the Tree, and concerts. Amenities include meeting rooms, a large courtroom area perfect for seminars and receptions, a catering kitchen, the George Williams Room, an outdoor gazebo, and manicured grounds.

Three is also a large gazebo on the manicured lawn, original turret (balcony) to the outside, faux fireplaces, 24-foot ceilings and revolving art exhibits. Many rooms and areas of the courthouse are available for rental for weddings, meetings, receptions, banquets, showers and conferences. Areas for rent include a large courtroom (accommodates 200 seated for a plated dinner with no dance floor, 150 seated at tables with buffet and dance floor or 300 standing with buffet tables only) and four meeting rooms (16-20 per room seated at tables or 30 theater style). The picturesque gazebo and lawn are perfect for outdoor events.

Home to the George Williams Collection of antique furniture, books and paintings, and the Gwinnett Veterans Council War Memorial Museum, an exhibit filled with tributes to the brave men and women who have defended our land and liberties from the Civil War to the present. Located on the first floor of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse, this museum covers wars from the 19th century to the present, including the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf Wars, and Operation Enduring Freedom. Approximately 700 feet of the shoreline along the Chattahoochee River with 2 pedestrian bridges that provide improved access to the river and scenic river overlook areas for fishing. Asphalt, concrete and soft surface walkways and fencing were constructed to protect the river's vegetation. Improved handicap access to the river was made possible though a new wooden boardwalk with ramp. A reptile collection, wildlife exhibits and a butterfly garden are favorite attractions. The Lanier Museum provides a number of classes, programs and tours throughout the year.

Things To Do: Under 1 Acre - The museum in the Female Seminary, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built the 1830s, and was first used as a finishing school for the county's young women. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the original structure, and a new building was constructed in 1855. Later the Female Seminary was converted into a "civic center" for community activities, meetings, clubs, seminars, and at one time even housed a local radio station. The Gwinnett History Museum currently includes exhibits on farm life, textiles, religion, schools and traditional music. Other displays relate to and interpret life in Gwinnett County. The Heritage Programming and Preservation Office promotes heritage preservation through special events, monthly coffeehouse nights, research assistance, and classes in subjects such as quilting, spinning and the dulcimer. Call for tours. The Lawrenceville Female Seminary building is also available for rental and ideal for business meetings, receptions, banquets, workshops, showers, and conferences.

Things To Do: 890 Acres - Fence Road Entrance has 5 miles of trails of paved multi-purpose and soft-surface trails for equestrian and hiking. Handicap-accessible trail around a pond, and over 2 miles of woodland foot trails. Hog Mountain Road Entrance amenities include a large rustic picnic pavilion, two smaller picnic pavilions, restrooms, playground, grill, fishing lake, Karina Miller Nature Preserve, and an observation terrace at the peak of the West Meadow that is one of the highest elevations in Gwinnett County.

Hog Mountain entrance includes the 200-acre Karina Miller Nature Preserve, additional trails including those designed for equestrian use, a connector trail to the rest of the park on the Fence Road side, a lake with several fishing piers. An additional parking lot, for equestrian use only, is located on the side of the park that faces Mineral Springs Road. Little Mulberry Park is the second largest park owned by Gwinnett County.

McDaniel Farm Park - Things To Do: 134 Acres in size. The property, a former cotton farm, has been restored to depict typical 1930s subsistence farm in Gwinnett County. One of the original tenant farmhouses on the property has been restored, as well as the barn, Carriage house, Tenant house, barn, well house, chicken coop, buggy shed and blacksmith shed. The furnished McDaniel Farm House features displays in several of the rooms that can be viewed by visitors. The natural beauty of the park can also be experienced through several recreational amenities, including 3 miles of connecting, paved multi-purpose and soft surface trails, a picnic Pavilion, grills and restroom. Things To Do: 18 Acres. Two indoor pools and an outdoor leisure pool. Indoor pools include a 25-yard x 25-meter indoor competition-lap pool, indoor instructional pool, and outdoor leisure play pool. The competition pool features 10 lap lanes, a diving well with two diving boards, and balcony and poolside seating for over 500 spectators and swim fans. The warm water pool is ideal for water aerobics, swim lessons, and water therapy, and is the first of its kind for GCPR. The outdoor leisure pool is equipped with 2 large slides, a play structure with a slide for smaller kids, a lazy river, raining buckets, a bubble bench and vortex area. Park also features a large community room, classroom and 1-mile paved multi-purpose trail. This center is open for classes and rentals.

Powerhouse Park (A Lake Lanier Park)- Located off Buford Dam Road in Buford, Georgia
Things To Do: Feat`ures scenic views of the Chattahoochee River and is a great spot for hikers, fishermen, tubers, and kayakers. The Laurel Ridge Trail (3.8 miles) goes through this park. There is a wildlife lookout point and a lovely bridge that takes pedestrians over the river just behind the dam. If you want to go tubing or rent kayaks, Up the River Outfitters uses the park as its drop spot. No pets are allowed.

Things To Do: 162 acres. In the heart of downtown Lawrenceville. A 22-acre fishing lake is surrounded by open space, pavilions, grill, restrooms, .8-mile paved multipurpose trail, 2 playgrounds, 7 baseball-softball fields and a football field overlay. Park also features the Rhodes Jordan Park Community Recreation Center that has 2 classrooms, dance - aerobics room, a large community room, double gymnasium and catering kitchen. The tennis center has 8 lighted courts. An outdoor leisure pool has 4 lap lanes, a large slide and other water play features. Note: Rhodes Jordan Park will undergo a renovation through Summer of 2011. The pavilions, playgrounds and portions of the walking trail will be closed. The Community Recreation Center, pool and sports fields will remain open.

Inside, there is a 25-yard x 30 ft. warm water instructional pool with an entry ramp as well as a 25-yard x 25-meter competition-lap pool which includes a diving pool with two 1-meter springboards. Park also has an outdoor leisure pool, 2 lighted multi-purpose fields and a 1/4-mile lighted walking track.

Things To Do: 566 Acres - Beautiful forests and wildflowers, and one of the best places to enjoy both is Yellow River Park in the southern tip of the county. This park is mostly wooded and contains several different types of forests. The wooded area covering the majority of the park mainly consists of upland deciduous forests, traditional pine woodlands, and mixed pine and hardwood forests. The park includes 12 miles of soft-surface winding mountain bike, hiking and horse trails through the woods above the Yellow River. Bike trails range from flat, smooth and wide for beginner cyclists to twisty, rocky and steep single-track trails coveted by more advanced cyclists. It also has a 1-mile paved multi-purpose trail, equestrian trailer parking, Pavilion, grill and restrooms.
